'It's your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you'
Supporting you by bringing empathy, compassion, congruence, insights and non judgement on our journey together
Kaashi was set up in 2025 by two experienced counsellors Kate and Shilpa to provide counselling and psychotherapy to those in need of support.
Our journey together began in 2014 when we set up CoCo Counselling (www.cocoed.org.uk) as an affordable service in Edinburgh to support anyone who was unable to pay for counselling.
CoCo is now a thriving social enterprise that continues to support clients through counselling. We set up our private practice Kaashi Counselling in order to ensure the sustainability of our affordable services at CoCo. We continue to manage all aspects of the organisation.
Kate FrazerI love working with people, and I love the changes and connections which are made possible through the counselling process. It is a privilege for me to walk with clients during their counselling experience.
I see therapy as a creative partnership where client and therapist journey together. I offer a warm, safe and enquiring space, helping clients to engage, explore, and to work towards growth and healing. My core training is in Person Centred Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Where possible I adapt my way of working to meet the needs of every individual. Helping a client to identify and build on their own resources is at the heart of my work. I have a particular interest in somatic healing, a body-centred approach to therapy that focuses on the mind-body connection. I have personal experience of living with chronic illness and am interested in helping others to find their way through the challenges arising from experiences such as long covid, ME and chronic fatigue syndrome. I work with adults and young people aged 16 and over. I charge £30 for initial appointments and £65 for further sessions. My work is mainly online. Shilpa BalaramI aim to create a collaborative environment that you can trust and feel safe and respected in without any judgement. I approach all my work with empathy and genuine interest and your needs are always at the centre of any work you do together. Working on ourselves can be difficult and often painful but I will be with you on this journey with compassion, kindness, challenges and humour (when appropriate).
I am a Person Centred and Emotion Focused counsellor and psychotherapist with experience of working with clients for over ten years. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer appointments in person or remotely (online or phone) to adults and young people aged 16 and over. It is really important that you find someone that feels like the right fit for you and I would be happy to offer you an initial appointment to see if we would work well together. I charge £30 for initial appointments and if we decide to work together, sessions cost £70. Client feedback
'Shilpa was great, I always felt like I could trust that she would be responsive to anything I brought up in whatever way the moment called for so it always felt very engaged in a super natural way rather than anything ever feeling forced..'

'Our joint communication skills and Kate's strong sense of empathy are what made our relationship a reliable source of support. Our counselling sessions were a sacred time in my weekly routine, and I very much looked forward to seeing her every week'.
'Kate helped me to better understand the origins and nature of my anxiety and the multiple ways it intersects across my life. Although I have received some treatment for the anxiety in the past, these sessions brought out new realisations concerning my mental health. We also worked on several coping strategies such as relaxation techniques and rationalising the anxiety'.
